I have been reflecting on this poem by Howard Thurman during this holiday season. May it be meaningful to you, well.
I WILL LIGHT CANDLES THIS CHRISTMAS
I will light candles this Christmas,
Candles of joy despite all the sadness,
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch,
Candles of courage for fears ever present,
Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days,
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens,
Candles of love to inspire all my living,
Candles that will burn all year long.

May this simple action of lighting a candle symbolize hope. Hope that continues to shine despite the challenges, losses, trials, and darkness of this past year.
May you be reminded that the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
“A light that thrives in the depths of darkness, blazes through murky bottoms. It cannot and will not be quenched” (1John 1:5, The Voice).
